Dr. Newsom received her M.D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1985. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Newsom is interested in the treatment of urinary incontinence and female genital prolapse, female urology, neuro-urology and robotic laparoscopic surgery. She is a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center, the Society of Women in Urology Society and the American Urological Society. She is board certified in urology. In her spare time, Dr. Newsom enjoys playing golf.
