Cats
Cats are felines. They have fur that comes in many lengths, textures and colors. They can be more independent, aloof and/or bossy than dogs. Some are more affectionate than others. Sometimes you will be the best of friends, like a family, or you might get along more like acquaintances. Just as there are many kinds of dogs, there are many kinds of cats.
Different breeds may act differently and fit better in different environments. You have to make sure that you will love a cat, and that you will have time to take it to the vet before you get one. You also must decide if it will be an indoor cat, outdoor cat or both. If you will have him de-clawed, that will make your decision more important. If you want a cat who will hunt mice, then you might need to train it to chase mice, and if you think it necessary, eat them. Although it may not be the first thing on some person’s list, it is still an option that most people probably consider when adopting a cat.
Cats need shots, and checkups at the vet to make sure that they do not become ill. Taking good care of your cat is essential. You have to feed them, bathe them and give them flea medicine. You also need to get them an ID tag, so that if they get lost you have a greater chance of finding them again. If they stay inside, they also will need a litter box that should be cleaned out regularly.
Cats are as great a responsibility as any other pet. They are living creatures that need to be cared for and loved. They have different personalities. You might have to work harder to win their trust than with a dog, but once that trust is gained, they will become a companion that will love you for a long time.
