Spider-Man 2
Web-Slinger swings high in Spider-Man 2
Comic book movies have been known to be all brainless action and full of silly characters that a lot of people don't take seriously. But good news for the fans -- that's all in the past! Since the first "X-Men" movie came out, movies that come from comic books have become more interesting and are finally getting respect from audiences.
Don't believe me? Watch Spider-Man 2.
No, this second movie about our favorite Web-Slinger (played by Tobey Maguire) doesn't have a cool name, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. In fact, it's better than the first, which is good because sequels usually don't do that these days.
This time around, you see Spidey (whose secret identity is Peter Parker) not only being a super-hero by saving lives in New York City, but also trying to be a good student and hard worker, doing so many things at once, just like any other normal person does. Like you and me. (Related information: Time Management)
Imagine doing all this: go to school, have two jobs like taking pictures for a newspaper and delivering pizzas in New York, help out your family, have a BIG crush on a girl (or guy), and also fight bad guys all the time.
Well, that's what Spidey has to go through. He's got to take care of his Aunt May, fight Doctor Octopus (the new bad guy) and New York crooks, and keep up with homework in college. All this time, he never stops thinking about Mary Jane, the girl of his dreams. What a tough life, huh?
All the film's characters are just like real people; they don't seem fake or stupid at all, so don't worry that this movie is "cheesy."
The special effects are very, very cool. You can't really tell the difference between a computer Spidey and a real-life one. Also, the way he web-swings through the city of New York…WOW. You feel like you're actually with him in the air! And you will definitely see one of the best action scenes ever with Spidey vs. Doc Ock on a fast-speeding train. You're going to cheer for the web-head the whole time!
The lesson to learn from this movie is that Spider-Man isn't a hero just because of his awesome super-powers (although I would like to crawl up a wall someday), but because of his good and noble heart. That's something that anyone can have.
With a bunch of funny scenes, wonderful characters, and great action and special effects, you're going to love this movie. "Spider-Man 3" is planned to come out in the year 2007. I already can't wait to see it.
