FDA Alert: Do Not Use Skin Products
Made by Clarcon
Products May Contain Disease-Causing Bacteria
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to use products manufactured by Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory, Inc. after high levels of disease-causing bacteria were found in products during a recent inspection. Clarcon is voluntarily recalling some skin sanitizers and skin protectants that showed high levels of bacteria . This bacteria can cause infection in the skin and underlying tissue that may need medical or surgical treatment and may result in permanent damage.
This warning is particularly serious because the Clarcon products are marketed as antimicrobial agents that claim to treat open wounds and damaged skin, and protect against certain infectious diseases, the FDA says.
The FDA is encouraging consumers to discard all Clarcon products, including:
- Citrushield Lotion
- Dermasentials DermaBarrier
- Dermaessentials by Clarcon Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer
- Iron Fist Barrier Hand Treatment
- Skin Shield Restaurant
- Skin Shield Industrial
- Skin Shield Beauty Salon Lotion
- Total Skin Care Beauty
- Total Skin Care Work
