Living Well with Diabetes

The Living Well with Diabetes class series is for patients with type 2 diabetes who are either newly diagnosed or have not received diabetes education in a couple of years.
Sessions offered weekly. All new patients are advised to register for this program.

Healthy Eating with Type 2 Diabetes

This class will review the basics of nutrition and the glycemic impact of foods. Participants will learn how to manage their blood glucose levels, cholesterol and weight through diet. Emphasis will be placed on basic carbohydrate counting, label reading, shopping, and food preparation.

Diabetes Management

This class provides a wealth of information for patients with type 2 diabetes. The five-hour class, taught in two sessions, gives insights on the disease and suggests lifestyle changes for lifetime management of diabetes. It includes detailed discussions on meal planning, benefits of exercise and background in physiology, complications and medications.

Diabetes Survival

This four-week class provides a wealth of information for those with either newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes or those needing an update or refresher. The class offers insight on the disease and guides participants towards lifestyle changes for lifetime self-management of diabetes. It includes detailed discussion on meal planning, exercise, medication management and complications.

Patients who complete the course are scheduled to attend a one hour follow up class, two months after completion.
